As an employee, most people live for the weekend. A three-day weekend, such as what Labor Day provides, is sacred.
Yet as a business owner and consultant, I find myself living for the moment more and more.
For example, this weekend we celebrated my youngest daughter’s sixth birthday. We had a party at the beach and then my six nieces and nephews joined my three kids for a sleepover at our house. A great time was had by all, despite the heat. (With no air conditioning, our house never dropped below 85 degrees inside.)
I literally turned off my MacBook Air Friday evening and did not turn it back on until Sunday morning. And now, Labor Day morning, I’m at my desk working away.
And I couldn’t be happier!
I’m working on the September issue of AEC Forensics Monthly. It is going to take a lot of work (someday I will put together a write-up of how to assemble an eBook/digital magazine), but it truly is a labor of love.
So yeah, I’m working on Labor Day. And it is pretty great.
